Rise in demand for new homes in Devon delivers new jobs
High demand for new homes in Devon is behind a rise in new job opportunities in the sector, according to one of the region's leading housebuilders which is expanding its team in the county.
Barratt Developments, which is building hundreds of Barratt and David Wilson Homes across Devon, is currently recruiting to ten new posts in everything from on-site construction and technical specialisms to roles in the commercial, land and planning teams, having retained staff and protected jobs throughout the pandemic.
The five-star housebuilder is seeing high levels of demand as more people reassess where they live following successive lockdowns and take advantage of recent incentives such as the Stamp Duty holiday, which has now reduced and will end in September. The South West is also proving highly popular with people looking to leave larger towns and cities to move nearer to the countryside and into homes with access to outside space.
New communities under construction in Devon by Barratt Developments' Exeter division include
Raleigh Holt, 86 homes on the edge of Barnstaple, Braid Park, 180 homes surrounded by country parks on the outskirts of Tiverton and Victoria Heights, a new development at Alphington, Exeter comprising of 156 new homes with large areas of public open space.
Roles with the leading housebuilder are available at all levels. Some require experience in particular specialisms such as project management, sales, and planning. However, others are open to people looking to start or change careers to work with Barratt Developments, which is renowned for industry-leading training and development programmes.
Nicki Reid, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes in Devon said:
"We have seen a huge increase in demand for new homes across Devon and the South West and we're working hard to build new communities of high quality, sustainable homes with access to open, green space - which we know has become all the more important to people over the last 18 months. This means we have opportunities in construction and in our commercial and planning teams.
