Barratt David Wilson Homes has cause for celebration this week, as the housebuilder officially broke the ground at its new Railway Park at Kingsbrook in Aylesbury. The new open space is situated to the south of Orchard Green village and will include a community orchard, allotments, amphitheatre, multi-use games area and a neighbourhood play area for residents to enjoy.

Attended by Matt Hulme, RSPB Project Manager for Kingsbrook and Kingsbrook Meadows; Councillor James Ingall from Kingsbrook Parish Council; Paul Holton, Ecologist in Planning, Growth and Sustainability from Buckinghamshire Council; and Marc Woolfe, Head of Sales at Barratt David Wilson North Thames, the event marked the official start of construction for the site which will be complete in 2023.

Located on Armstrong Fields, the new park will continue the expansion of Kingsbrook’s wildlife friendly ethos. Over 60% of the overall development is dedicated to green infrastructure; including ecological enhancement in the form of wildflower meadows, woodlands, parks, allotments, fruit trees and a sustainable drainage system which creates wildlife-rich waterways. Residents will also have access to a 250 Acre Nature Reserve on their doorstep with plenty of opportunities to explore the canal walk and cycle paths.

Marc Woolfe, Head of Sales at Barratt David Wilson North Thames, commented, “Our expansion of Kingsbrook’s nature networks is a key part of the development and something we are proud to be continually growing. Railway Park will be central to Canal Quarter as a meeting place for the wonderful community already formed here at Kingsbrook, where children will have the opportunity to play safely and residents to enjoy a variety of social events.”

Matt Hulme, RSPB Project Manager for Kingsbrook and Kingsbrook Meadows, added, “Kingsbrook is a pioneering development which demonstrates that it is possible for nature to thrive in areas that are being redeveloped. Railway Park is a fantastic new addition to the site, which we were pleased to mark today, and I look forward to seeing the new wildlife that finds a home at the development as a result.”

Currently available at Orchard Green is a selection of three and four-bedroom homes with prices starting from £425,000, allowing first time buyers and second steppers alike to take advantage of recent stamp duty cuts. The homes can also save new residents up to £2,400 on energy bills, being up to 65% cheaper to run than an updated Victorian equivalent.[1]
