‘F’ is for family – and a first home in Dunkinfield

IT may also stand for fairway, but for Viju Vastrad and her husband Vaghish Salimath ‘F’ stands for family and first home, after they moved to Greenside View, overlooking Dukinfield Golf Club in Tameside.

It marks an end to years of renting – and the start of a bright new future for the couple, who are also looking forward to the birth of their first child.

Viju, 33, a web developer, says: “We were renting for four or five years after marriage, but we didn’t want to continue doing that as it’s just dead money.

“We wanted to get a mortgage and a home of our own, so that the money we were paying out each month was benefiting us.”

And Viju adds: “It’s even more exciting now that we are expecting our first baby, and this will be our family home.”

Greenside View is an Elan Homes development offering a beautiful collection of three, four and five-bedroom homes. Selected properties overlook the gorgeous greens of the golf course, and some benefit panoramic views of the Manchester city skyline.

Surrounded by green spaces with access to amenities, and only 10 miles from the city centre, it was this location, plus the stunning high-specification homes offered by Elan, that persuaded Viju and Vaghish that it was the ideal place for them.

The couple had been renting a flat in Stockport but were always keen to buy their own house, something that became even more important when Viju learned she was expecting.

“We wanted our own home for children, with a garden,” she says.

They saw Elan’s Greenside View development on Rightmove at the beginning of this year and decided to view the properties soon after.

“We had looked at other builders, but we didn’t like their houses,” Viju recalls. “We both wanted a spacious kitchen and hall, and a home in a calm area, and we really liked the houses here, outside and inside.”

The pair chose the Droylsden – a three-bedroom semi-detached style, with a kitchen and dining area at the front of the home, and a large lounge spanning the rear, together with a cloakroom downstairs.

Upstairs are three good-sized bedrooms, the main with en-suite, and a family bathroom.

“The bedrooms are spacious, and we like having the en-suite with the main bedroom. Bedroom two is going to be the nursery and, because we both work from home, bedroom three will be an office,” Viju explains.

“We moved in in August and I am loving our own home – it’s our house.

“In our apartment we couldn’t get out, and here we have our own garden; it’s a freedom, and so important.

“We love the countryside around us, and it’s a calm area for a baby growing up, and there are good and outstanding schools which was also a priority for us.

“It’s so exciting to be looking forward to our first baby in our new home – life couldn’t be more perfect.”
