Nation’s busiest cities to be an estate agent revealed

The latest property market analysis by estate agent comparison site, GetAgent.co.uk, has revealed that estate agents are currently at their busiest in Liverpool, with 21 homes listed for every agent in the city. 

GetAgent analysed the number of current property listings across 25 major UK cities and what this equates to in terms of listings per agent to reveal where the nation’s estate agents are at their busiest, as well as which cities are home to the most competitive markets. 

The research shows that on average across these major cities there are 14 homes listed for every one estate agent.

When it comes to the best market to be an agent, there are some 423 estate agents listed with GetAgent across the city of Liverpool. With almost 8,700 listings in the current market, that’s a huge 21 listings per an agent, making it the busiest UK city for estate agents. 

Bristol isn’t far behind, where there are 19 homes currently listed for sale for every estate agent in the city.

Sheffield and Portsmouth rank joint third. While Sheffield is home to both more agents and more homes for sale, both cities are also home to an average of 18 property listings per estate agent. 

Leeds (17), Glasgow (16), Nottingham (15), Bournemouth (15), Cardiff (15) and London (15) also rank within the top 10.

However, when it comes to the most competitive markets, it’s Swansea that tops the table. On average there are just some four homes listed for sale for every one estate agent in the city. 

Preston also ranks as one of the most competitive markets with an average of 8 homes for sale per agent, as does Coventry, Bradford, Huddersfield and Stoke at nine homes per agent.

“The pandemic property market boom has ensured that estate agents up and down the nation have been extremely busy.

However, like every aspect of the property market, market conditions are very much dictated by local influences and can differ drastically from one postcode to the next, let alone from city to city.

This is no different when it comes to the number of estate agents in a given area and the level of stock they have to fight it out over. As our research shows, those listing in Liverpool are currently enjoying a very buoyant market, whereas it’s a far more competitive landscape in Swansea.”
