Barratt Developments Yorkshire West Donates £1,000 To Keighley’s Parkinson’s Support Group
A Keighley support group responsible for hosting events for local people with Parkinson’s disease has received £1,000 from local homebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire West.
Keighley Parkinson’s Support Group received the donation as part of the homebuilder’s Community Fund initiative, a programme which sees a different charity receive £1,000 from Barratt Developments Yorkshire West every month.
Based at Keighley Healthy Living Centre, the support group is vital for those facing the difficult condition as it provides a hub of social and physical activities aimed at promoting wellbeing. Keighley Parkinson’s Support Group applied for the Community Fund as they rely on the generosity of public donations, grants and fundraising to continue running the charity.
Cora King, Secretary at Keighley Parkinson’s Support Group said: “Our support group is important to all of our members because it gives them a safe space to meet others, exercise and improve their mental and physical wellbeing. The £1,000 donation will allow us to continue using our centre and providing our services, so we’re grateful to Barratt Developments Yorkshire West for its generous donation.”
Ian Ruthven, Managing Director at Barratt Developments Yorkshire West added: “Keighley Parkinson’s Support Group is one of many charities we admire for their commitment to improving the lives of others. Our Community Fund aims to do just that and we’re delighted we can boost their support even more.”
