Affordable take on the 'quiet luxury' trend epitomised by latest apartments launched at Barratt Homes' Chalkers Rise development
Understated elegance, timeless appeal, and high-quality materials are the guiding principles of interior design in 2023, with ‘quiet luxury’ taking the interior design world by storm.[1] Barratt Homes’ new two-bedroom show apartment at Chalkers Rise in Peacehaven showcases a relaxed minimalist style, demonstrating how buyers can achieve a contemporary and high-quality look at an affordable entry-point.
Designed by BLOCC Interiors, Creative Sales Director Suzanne Thomas and her team were tasked with creating a modern and welcoming design, using a colour palette that focuses on neutral tones and enhances the natural light flooding through the large windows. The design uses simple shapes to highlight generously proportioned rooms, whilst splashes of burnt orange add a dynamic flair to the apartment.
The new apartments will offer an abundance of natural light, high specification kitchens and an open plan living design, demonstrating how buyers can combine three different purpose areas (kitchen/lounge/dining) into homely, dual or triple-purpose functional space. With the launch of a new show home, Barratt Homes is offering buyers a glimpse into their future life at Chalkers Rise.
Suzanne Thomas, Creative Sales Director at BLOCC Interiors, commented: “Our aim was to create a space that inspires potential buyers so they can produce a similar look by purchasing items themselves. We utilised multiple feature walls, as they are an affordable and effective way for anyone to add instant impact into a space, focusing on orange in the show home because of its brightening characteristics, making the space feel warm, open and welcoming.
“To accompany the bright highlights, we chose to use a complementary palette of whites, greys, warm beiges and taupes to achieve a soft and warm minimalistic style. Across the bedrooms and socialising spaces, these colours induce a sense of calm and cohesion across the home.”
Kimberley Benson, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt Southern Counties, added: “We appreciate many buyers may not have the extra budget to splash out on interior design so wanted our show home to demonstrate that modern, on trend finishes are achievable and do not have to cost the Earth. Suzanne and her team have brought the ‘quiet luxury’ trend to life here at Chalkers Rise and hope this gives some inspiration to our prospective buyers.”
Chalkers Rise is situated on the edge of the picturesque South Downs National Park, while the local beach is just under 1.5 miles away. In town, a range of amenities are on offer, including schools, local shops, and independent restaurants and cafes. The bustling city of Brighton is just 20 minutes away in the car. London remains within striking distance, just 70 minutes away by train from the nearby Lewes Railways station.
Kimberley commented: “Peacehaven itself is one of East Sussex’s best-kept secrets, just a short drive down the coast from Brighton, yet an attractive seaside destination in its own right. It’s a fantastic location for first time buyers, with coast and countryside on its doorstep, including the historic chalk Telscombe Cliffs. The development continues to be very popular, and we only have two one-bedroom apartments remaining on site. As well as coming down to see our new two-bedroom show home, we encourage anyone looking to move immediately to the area to come and learn more about our Loughton apartments.”
All homes at Chalkers Rise have been constructed with energy efficiency in mind, with measures in place such as energy efficient boilers and high levels of insulation, that ensure a new Barratt home is up to 64% cheaper to run than the same sized older home with modern day improvements.[2]
The development also hosts multiple wildlife-friendly features, an RSPB gold-standard show garden that incorporates wildlife-friendly features such as bird boxes, inclusion of native plants and hibernacula. The site also has electric vehicle charging points on selected plots, low energy lighting and water saving measures to complement the wildlife initiatives taken.
