A new nationwide study has revealed which cities in the UK are most obsessed with interior style, and that over half of Brits are proud of the design of their homes.
With searches for interior design trends up by 650% in the last 12 months, Brits are looking for ways to give their homes the wow factor.
The study by leading designer radiator specialists BestHeating asked UK homeowners about their confidence in home décor, colour schemes, artwork, and furniture placement to uncover the cities most obsessed with style.
Cardiff ranks first place with almost two in five (39.3%) claiming they have a good sense of interior style and over half (51.8%) surveyed said they are confident in knowing which colours go together and naming interior trends.

Southampton ranks close second with 38.2% saying they are proud of their homes and love showing it off to guests.
London is third with one in three stating that they keep up to date with artwork trends and would be more inclined to buy a property that had good artwork.
To give those who are looking to spruce up their homes some tips, Jessica Steele, style expert at BestHeating, has explained three ways to incorporate popular interior design trends:
Paint walls light and neutral colours
Stick to neutral colours like beige and grey especially in the hallway and connecting rooms where flow is an important aspect of the décor. This will be especially effective if you have two small rooms next to each other, for more variation expert Jess recommends “Choose a slightly different shade of paint for each room to add contrast.”
Using neutral paint means you can change the overall style of a room without the need to repaint. A light beige pairs well with rust, pink, red, grey, or yellow so when the décor needs switching up you can change accessories with flexibility.
Always accessorise
The key to achieving that designer home look is by adding personality through using accessories or ‘home jewellery’. These accessories can be anything from statement vases to artwork, each will add character but be careful not to go overboard with accessorising as this can start to become tacky. The great thing about adding standout pieces is that they can be changed and moved around depending on seasons.
Don’t be afraid to mix it up
Adding textures and material into the home is a great way to add depth and eye-catching contrast to the room. Most people play it safe and stick to the same materials and colours, but this can often look bland and boring. Start off small and try experimenting with some different patterns and materials, a stripped pattern can be incredibly flexible if you keep in mind the tone of the fabric.
