Man City, Aston Villa and West Ham sit top of the table for new housing stock

Research by property developer, StripeHomes, has revealed that Man City sits top of the league when it comes to house building prowess as well as football.

Next weekend will see the greatest league on earth come to a climax for yet another season and while this season has looked very different due to Covid, one consistent theme remains Man City’s Premier League pedigree as they look set to reclaim the league title from Liverpool. 

An analysis of housing delivery by StripeHomes shows that they also top the table in this respect. StripeHomes looked at the most recent number of net dwellings delivered (2019/2020) across each local authority home to a current Premier League team and reordered the league standings based on these totals.

However, there’s no change for Man City and with 4,005, Manchester has seen the most homes delivered of all Premier League Clubs. In contrast, just 689 have been completed across neighbouring Trafford, placing Man United 16th and not far from the relegation zone.

Aston Villa clinches the second spot with 3,740 net additional dwellings delivered across Birmingham, while London’s Newham has seen the next largest number (3,368), placing West Ham third in the league.

Newly promoted Leeds sit fourth, with 3,333 additional net dwellings, while Sheffield United see a complete reversal in fortunes, ranking fifth with 3,083 new homes across Sheffield.

Last year’s champions Liverpool and rivals Everton share sixth place, with the city of Liverpool seeing 2,536 additional net dwellings.

At just 165 new homes, Burnley sits bottom of the table, with Southampton (460) and West Brom (467) also joining them in the relegation zone.

Hopefully, it will now act as a base for yet more cities in the north to follow suit and tempt more companies and their staff away from the bright lights of the capital.”
